Geoffrey Gilbert
- Born 1914 in Liverpool
- At the age of 16 solo flutist of the Halle orchestra
- At 19 solo flutist of the London Philharmonics
- Professor at the Royal Northern College of Music, at the Trinity College and at the Guidhall School of Music
- Was one of the first british flutists to change to the silver flute.
- Among his students were William Bennett and James Galway
- 1969 move to America
- Known as the Gentleman of the flute
- Died on the 18th of may 1989
